Disruptive Innovation in Technology-5305
Welcome to my learning journey in Disruptive Innovation Technology- EDLD 5305. This course has been an eye-opening experience, helping me see technology not as a hurdle, but as an opportunity to make meaningful change in my school community. As a CCMR Coordinator, I work daily to support students in navigating college, career, and military readiness, and this course gave me new strategies and tools to help both faculty and students thrive in an increasingly digital learning environment.
Throughout the semester, I engaged in assignments that challenged me to think strategically and creatively. Through case studies and implementation strategy outlines, I analyzed how disruptive innovations can transform learning and applied those ideas directly to my role. In discussion and collaboration activities, I shared lessons learned, identified challenges, and celebrated successes with peers, which helped me reflect on my own practices and leadership style.
This course reinforced the importance of listening, reflecting, and designing strategies that put people first. By combining the theory of disruptive innovation with hands-on assignments, I have grown as a leader who can guide change thoughtfully, communicate effectively, and create a supportive environment for both students and faculty.

Innovation Proposal Letter
In this assignment I learned to see technology as a catalyst for meaningful change rather than a challenge to overcome. This course encouraged me to think differently about how innovation can enhance learning, equity, and engagement within my school community. As a CCMR Coordinator, this learning inspired me to create my Proposal Letter titled “Digital Career Exploration & Mentorship Program,” which focuses on bridging the gap between students and real-world career experiences through technology and mentorship. Developing this proposal allowed me to apply the principles of disruptive innovation, strengthen my communication with stakeholders, and design a sustainable plan that supports students in becoming truly future ready.
Innovation Literature Review
One of the most impactful assignments was developing a comprehensive Literature Review to support my innovation plan. The objective of this assignment was to compile and synthesize research identifying patterns and trends in effective educational innovations. For my project, I examined studies focused on digital mentorship, career exploration, and technology integration in secondary education, connecting them to my proposed Digital Career Exploration & Mentorship Program. Through this process, I learned how to use academic research to validate real-world solutions, strengthen my proposal’s credibility, and communicate evidence-based strategies to stakeholders. This assignment deepened my understanding of how innovation grounded in research can transform learning environments and improve postsecondary readiness for all students.
Innovation Implementation Outline
As I worked through my Implementation Outline, I found myself thinking about how much intention it really takes to bring an idea to life in a school setting. The objective was to create a detailed three-year implementation plan for my innovation project, and that pushed me to look past the vision itself and focus on the steps that make it possible. I spent time reviewing research on technology integration and reflecting on how my own district rolls out new tools and programs. That process helped me shape a practical roadmap for the Digital Career Exploration & Mentorship Program, one that starts small, builds momentum, and becomes part of everyday practice over time. This assignment reminded me that real innovation is not just about introducing something new, it is about planning, pacing, and supporting people through each stage so the work can last.
Final Innovation Plan
As I pulled together this Final Innovation Plan, I found myself reflecting on how much the process has shifted my thinking about organizational change. This assignment asked me to look beyond the excitement of a new idea and really consider what it means to guide people, systems, and routines through meaningful disruption. Bringing together my Proposal Letter, Literature Review, and Implementation Outline, while revisiting each piece through the lens of instructor and peer feedback helped me see the plan as more than a set of documents. It became a roadmap that connects research, purpose, and practical steps in a way that supports real change. Creating the digital storytelling video added another layer, pushing me to communicate not just the plan itself, but the story behind why it matters for the audience I hope to impact. Overall, this assignment reminded me that innovation is both strategic and deeply human. It requires clarity, patience, and the willingness to guide others through a vision that feels both challenging and necessary.
