Concepts of Educational Technology

My Journey: Exploring Learning Through Technology and Voice
The EDLD 5302 course, Concepts of Educational Technology, has truly been a turning point in my professional growth. It pushed me to think differently about what it means to teach, learn, and lead in a digital age. More than just learning about technology, this course helped me see how digital tools can transform learning when they’re paired with student choice, ownership, voice, and authenticity, the COVA model. Through reflection and innovation, I’ve learned how to design meaningful, tech-rich learning experiences that empower students and educators to take charge of their growth and make learning personal.
Throughout this journey, I’ve discovered how collaboration, creativity, and technology come together to drive meaningful change, both for individuals and within organizations. Each assignment I completed in this course represents a step in that growth, capturing how my ideas evolved and how I continue to define my role as an educator and learner. Below, I’ve shared reflections and links to the major assignments that shaped my experience.
Technology Learning Manifesto
The Technology Learning Manifesto served as the foundation for my learning philosophy in this program. In this project, I outlined my vision for how technology can support student empowerment and create more authentic learning experiences. Writing it helped me define what I value most as an educator which is providing students with opportunities to explore, collaborate, and create. This assignment connected deeply with my role as a CCMR Coordinator, reminding me that preparing students for the future means rethinking how we teach today. My manifesto became a declaration of purpose: to help transform classrooms into spaces where curiosity and creativity thrive.
True Colors Personality and Leadership Analysis
The Personality and Leadership assignment allowed me to step back and reflect on who I am as a leader. Using the True Colors framework, I explored my strengths, areas for growth, and the ways my personality influences how I communicate and collaborate. What stood out most was how much leadership is rooted in empathy and awareness. This reflection helped me better understand how I can support others while staying true to my values. It also reminded me that effective leadership starts with self-knowledge—and that understanding our own learning styles can help us build stronger, more inclusive learning communities
Technology Case Study Analysis
ELEVATE — Igniting Futures with 1:1 Device Empowerment project gave me the chance to collaborate with my group and turn ideas into action. We designed a 1:1 device initiative aimed at expanding access and engagement across the school community. This project was more than a plan, it was an exploration of how technology can bring equity, connection, and creativity into students’ daily learning experiences. Developing this initiative strengthened my belief that digital access alone isn’t enough and it must be paired with intentional leadership and thoughtful implementation. Through this process, I learned that when technology is used purposefully, it can truly elevate both teaching and learning.
Compilation & Contributions
The final assignment, Compilation & Contributions to Your Learning, tied everything together. It challenged me to think about how my learning manifesto connects to my ongoing growth as a professional and how my ePortfolio serves as more than just a collection of assignments. It’s a living record of who I am becoming as a learner and leader. Writing this reflection helped me see that learning doesn’t stop when a course ends. The ePortfolio gives me a space to continue reflecting, sharing, and evolving. It’s a reminder that professional growth is a lifelong journey and that reflection is one of our most powerful tools for improvement.
Final Thoughts
EDLD 5302 helped me rediscover the heart of learning which is curiosity, creativity, and courage. It reminded me that authentic learning doesn’t come from compliance or memorization. It comes from asking questions, taking risks, and being open to change. Each assignment pushed me to grow not just as an educator, but as a learner who values innovation and reflection.
As I continue to build my ePortfolio, these projects serve as markers of my journey—moments that capture how I’ve evolved both personally and professionally. More than anything, this course reaffirmed my belief that when learning is driven by choice, voice, ownership, and authenticity, it becomes a truly transformative experience.
